🎠FAQ: Behind the Curtain
Wait—why two fees? What’s the difference between the Club and Booster?
The PTC Club Fee is paid through Pinnacle High School and covers school-related activities — like classroom materials and club participation.
The Booster Fee is separate and stays within the parent-run Pinnacle Theater Boosters. These funds pay for meals during tech week, set materials, costumes, props, and other production expenses that bring our shows to life.
Together, both fees make it possible for our students to learn, create, and shine. ✨
What is a capstone?
In Arizona, the Senior Capstone Project is a state-recognized graduation component — a chance for students to demonstrate mastery in their field of study. For theater students, that means directing, designing, performing, or producing a project that showcases everything they’ve learned over their years in the program.
The Boosters help make these projects possible by funding materials, props, and technical resources students need to complete their work. Capstones aren’t just a requirement — they’re a student’s final bow and celebration of their growth. 🎓ðŸŽ
Approximately how much does it cost to put on a production?
Each full-scale show can cost $8,000–$15,000 depending on royalties, costumes, sets, lighting, sound, and meals during tech week. Booster support helps offset these costs so ticket prices can stay accessible for families and the community.
What are Build Days?
Build Days are hands-on workshops where parents and students join forces to construct sets, paint backdrops, and prep for upcoming performances. No experience needed — just enthusiasm and maybe an old T-shirt you don’t mind getting paint on! 🪚🎨
What happens during Tech Week?
Tech Week is the final countdown to opening night — when all the lights, sound, and performance elements come together. It’s exciting, exhausting, and full of magic!
Booster parents provide dinners, snacks, and encouragement so students can focus on perfecting their performances and getting ready to shine.

What's a Thespian?
A Thespian is simply a theater student who’s part of the International Thespian Society (ITS) — a national honor organization that celebrates excellence in high school theater. Students earn Thespian membership by participating in productions both on and off stage — acting, tech, design, or leadership.
Once inducted, they can:
Compete and perform at state and national Thespian festivals
Earn awards and scholarships
List their honor on college and scholarship applications
